Last Thursday, Newark’s Mayor Cory Booker was keynote speaker at the Kids In Distressed Situations (K.I.D.S) dinner held at Cipriani 42nd Street. The dinner raised $800,000 as children’s wear manufacturer Kahn Lucas and the Army & Air Force Exchange Service received the Retailer of the Year award.
Booker also accepted an award for Newark Now, a restoration organization that assists residents in the revitalization of their neighborhoods.
As a former Newark inhabitant, I am so proud of Cory Booker. He consistently champions the underdogs of Newark.
Moral Of The Story: Though change takes time, you can already notice how far Newark has come. Everyday is a step in the right direction.
